I don't know if this has been mentioned before on this thread, but I think they should just put one on for Michael. Afterall, he IS a star and I have to question the actions of his so-called friends in INXS now with their new shinny, knitted bus boy who is barely out of nappies. Don't get me started, I can rant on forever when I'm ready to get into battle... hee-hee! I'm nice really ;D

I think it would be nice for INXS or Micahel obviously to have their own star. But in all honesty, the stars really are little more than paid for publicity. The fees for the stars are usually paid by the performers studio or record label. And to those of us here in LA, they dont really hold much relevance other than to attract tourists. Here is the official site. www.hollywoodchamber.net/icons/history.aspAccording to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce the fee is now $25,000 & nominees must meet the follwoing criteria: Based on the requirements..I think I qualify

The list for the 25 new stars for this year is out. Mark Burnett, creator of, ahem, "Rockstar INXS" is among them.

The more I hear about dodgy folk getting "Stars", the more I don't think Michael belongs there. He's above all that, in my mind anyway.

Even from the stand point of the person getting it, though they've done some in posterity, if you're not there to celebrate the honor, it kind of takes some of the joy out it.

I still think it would be so lovely for Michael to have a star. In spite of some of the questionable celebrities that have them , there are many prestigious people who have been honored too. When I think of the millions of people who walk along the walk, who would see Michael's name just makes me wish it could happen! One of my favorite songs is Celluloid Heroes by the Kinks. It's always choked me up . Maybe thats another reason why I've wanted this for Michael. sniff

I'm at the risk of sounding mega dumb, but who is Tinkerbell?! She's the little fairy from Peter Pan.

A cartoon character is getting a star before Michael?

Hello. Tinkerbell is good. I want to be Tinkerbell someday. I am not sure about the criteria to choose the Star, But I guess Money is all that matters. I have to admit that and remember the importance... Michael donation is there? um... satomi xoxo

A cartoon character is getting a star before Michael? Much as I love Tinkerbell, if they wanted to honor anyone, I think it should have been J.M. Barrie, the writer who created her over a hundred years ago. How's that for a lasting legacy? But, I think the main reason is that she has pretty much become the "face" of Disney, who took her relatively small part in Peter Pan and basically built a franchise around her. And Disney is huge, with money and influence to spare.

Hi everyone
I've written to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce asking for the proper procedure in nominating Michael for a WOF star. There seems to be some confusion as to what the rules are and who is eligible, so I figured I'd get that info from them directly. Also, I asked if it's possible to nominate him alone or if he needs to be included with INXS.
Hopefully I'll get a response. I'll post whatever answers I get here.
Rita

Mystifyed....Thank you. I want this so bad for Michael. He is so much overdue for recognition for his talents, his rockstar status and for the man he was. I will always love him. He IS the definition of a rockgod. No one else compares to him. Although according to Michael all are different all are great. I am still astonished by the brilliant lyrics he wrote to so many songs. His voice is an instrument of beauty. The MAN JUST INCOMPARABLE. No one comes close.
